Theo chương trình, Tổng Bí thư Nguyễn Phú Trọng, Chủ tịch nước Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, Thủ tướng Phạm Minh Chính, Chủ tịch Quốc hội Vương Đình Huệ sẽ có các buổi tiếp Thường trực Ban Bí thư, Phó Chủ tịch nước Lào Bounthong Chitmany và đoàn đại biểu cấp cao Đảng và Nhà nước Lào trong chuyến thăm ý nghĩa này.
Lễ kỷ niệm 60 năm Ngày thiết lập quan hệ ngoại giao, 45 năm Ngày ký Hiệp ước hữu nghị và hợp tác Việt Nam - Lào diễn ra ngày 18/7 tại Hà Nội là sự kiện cấp quốc gia, là hoạt động trọng tâm của Năm Đoàn kết Hữu nghị Việt Nam – Lào 2022.
Tại buổi tiếp, Chủ tịch nước Nguyễn Xuân Phúc khẳng định Đảng, Nhà nước và nhân dân Việt Nam luôn hết sức coi trọng, quyết tâm gìn giữ và không ngừng vun đắp, phát triển mối quan hệ hữu nghị vĩ đại, đoàn kết đặc biệt và hợp tác toàn diện Việt Nam - Lào.
Để mối quan hệ hợp tác đó ngày càng sâu sắc, hiệu quả, Chủ tịch nước đề nghị hai bên duy trì thường xuyên các chuyến thăm và tiếp xúc cấp cao, triển khai nghiêm túc các thoả thuận cấp cao giữa hai Đảng, hai nước.
Người đứng đầu Nhà nước nhấn mạnh hai bên cần phát huy tiềm năng, nội lực để hợp tác thương mại, đầu tư có những bước đột phá mới, trở thành trụ cột vững chắc cho quan hệ hai nước; không ngừng tăng cường kết nối hai nền kinh tế, cùng phối hợp tìm kiếm nguồn vốn quốc tế cho các dự án kết nối hạ tầng cơ sở kinh tế trọng yếu của Lào với biển Việt Nam nhằm tăng cường hội nhập, giao thương quốc tế, phát triển tự chủ, bền vững và phồn vinh.
